Mistle Wood is an enchanting woodland nestled deep in the Gloucestershire countryside. This well-tended forest features excellent storage and a cosy shelter equipped with a log burner for chilly days. The woodland is diverse, with dense conifer trees dominating the southern side, accompanied by hazel coppice. Further north and west, you’ll find mature oak, chestnut, and hawthorn, holly, hemlock, Douglas fir, maple and also a rare wild service tree.

Well-maintained paths meander through the site, leading to various open glades and camp/work areas. A wide grassy ride runs north to south along the western boundary, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside and evening sun. The forest floor is carpeted with grasses and moss, along with ferns, foxgloves, bluebells, and an array of other flora.

Mistle Wood is part of the larger Ley Park, which connects to Blaisdon Wood and extends to the Forest of Dean, forming an extensive wildlife corridor for mammals and birds.

Situated on the eastern edge of the Forest of Dean, Mistle Wood is perfect for local walks and day trips. The Red Lion pub in Blaisdon is within walking distance, and the Wye Valley AONB is a short drive away, offering hiking, canoeing, and other activities. The city of Gloucester, with its shops, restaurants, and services, is also just a few miles away.

Ward is Westbury-on-Severn and the county council is Gloucestershire
