Blaeberry Meadow

This is a unique opportunity to buy a wonderful piece of land in a fantastic location. This land is surrounded by monoculture conifer plantation: the valuable island that is Blaeberry Meadow would be the perfect project to plant a deciduous woodland of multiple species: hedgerow species around the boundaries, with taller growing trees towards the more central area, would create a good structure to a new woodland. The more shrubby species would deflect the wind to allow the trees more opportunity to add growth in the early years. The meadow would benefit from a well thought out approach to any future planting, allowing the existing meadow space to thrive in harmony with additional woodland.

The meadow will be rich in diversity of insect life, drawn to the wildflowers and the idylic stream that snakes its way through the length of the field.

The location of Blaeberry Meadow is second to none, sat in the Ochil Hills. There are many peaks over 2,000 ft offering splendid views across central Scotland and to the north. Colourful hill names include Whitewisp, Steele's Knowe, Craigentaggert, The Nebit, Bengengie, and Ben Cleuch which is the highest at 2,363 ft (721 m). This would make a wonderful base to retreat from the pressure of modern life.

As well as the potential to increase the diversity and woodland, Blaeberry Meadow is well fenced with a year round water supply to provide pasture for farm animals or horses.

The meadow sits just north of the small village of Dunning, the village centres around the 12th–13th century former parish church of St. Serf, where the Dupplin Cross is displayed . It is in Strathearn, the valley of the River Earn, north of the Ochil Hill. It is believed that the surrounding land was home to many pictish settlements.

All sporting rights are sold with the land and access is good off the public road with a lockeable gate.
