Description Although Easter Wood is mainly a traditional Kentish chestnut coppice, there are a great variety of other species here, such as hornbeam, oak, ash, hazel, Corsican pine, and larch. Some of the chestnut coppice is ready for harvesting and some has been coppiced in recent times by the current owner. Part of an area of Corsican pine has been cleared and replanted with wild cherry, beech and oak. There is a wood store, shelter, and mains water which all help to create an ideal woodland working area. A number of beehives are included in the sale, and in recent years woodland the woodland bees here have produced some delicious honey. The flora in Easter Wood is flourishing, with bluebells, wood anemones, primroses, wood spurge, ransoms, orchids and yellow archangel. To the west of the wood is meadow, allowing light into the wood, and so benefiting the wildflowers and encouraging butterflies into the wood. Due to its great value as part of our woodland heritage, Easter Wood, is designated as a Site of Nature Conservation Interest (SNCI) and is in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). There also is a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and Article 4 designation to protect Easter Wood and the surrounding woodlands. These do not prevent normal woodland management covered by a Forestry Commission approved management plan.
Please note, none of these woods are suitable for residential development, other uses such as summer camping may well be suitable.
