Hornbeam Wood as the name would suggest is mainly made up of coppiced hornbeam, an excellent firewood, over which are mature oaks. There are numerous open areas and the wood has clearly been well used for enjoyment in the past. There is an old caravan in the centre of the wood, although not currently in a usable state. It could be cleaned up, it having established its presence for over 20 years.
According to records, there is also a grave located in the wood, although the precise location in unknown. The wood opens up to lovely far reaching views along the SW boundary which runs the length of the woodland.
Being very close to Pluckley Station this would be perfect for those wishing to use the trains to visit their woodland.
Pluckley is situated in the beautiful Kent countryside, about 1½ hrs drive from London. It is a very picturesque village and was once the setting for the well known TV series The Darling Buds of May. The village also has another claim to fame, supposedly being the most haunted in England with numerous ghostly hotspots around the area.
The wood is easily accessible by a hard track for much of the length then a grassy ride for the remainder.
Boundaries to the north east it's the trackside (the track being included); south west the field edge; west is the shallow ditch and east is harder to define, see plan.
Access is along a hard track leading from the gate on the public highway (combination number will be provided to a buyer), then along a grassy ride to the start of the track leading into the wood. There is a full right of way along the track with contribution to maintenance according to use made.
