Located in the beautiful High Weald AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty) and part of Great Knelle Wood all of which add their share of trees to this special landscape.  Designated as ancient and semi-natural this area of woodland has a wonderful display of wildflowers in spring, including bluebells, wood anenome, dogs mercury, wood sorrel confirming its ancient status. It is fine mature oak and chestnut woodland, with an interesting topograpy suggestive of ancient earthworking, a substantial bank, a shallow valley and bunds which might have been for impounding water. A small shallow stream flows through the wood. The wood has a good canopy and is open at ground level, so easy to walk through.

Access   is along a woodland track where there is a full right of way. It's about a 1,000 metres in all so be prepared for the walk.

Boundaries  on three sides it's the field edge and is unmarked on the east side.

Location  parish  is Beckley, district is Rother in East Sussex.
