Marron Wood is a secluded broadleaf woodland nestled within the Old Park Wood Site of Nature Conservation and offers a tranquil retreat spanning 5 acres, making it an ideal choice for individuals interested in owning and managing their own woodland.
Comprising predominantly chestnut and birch coppice with scattered mature oak trees, Marron Wood boasts a diverse ecosystem. The lower canopy invites ample sunlight, fostering the growth of vibrant bluebells in season.
The predominantly level terrain features spacious clearings at the heart of the woodland, providing an optimal setting for camping and woodland activities.
While a historical track once traversed the wood from east to west, it has since become somewhat overgrown. However, restoration could easily be undertaken to allow vehicle access into the woodland. Additionally, the presence of windblown trees on the site offers a valuable source of firewood.
Locally, The Peacock Inn is within walking distance as is the village of Goudhurst with shops and restaurants.
Ward is Goudhurst and Lamberhurst and the County Council is Kent
Boundaries: The boundary is opened on all sides and marked with purple paint. North and west follow the main access track, and south and east follow a woodland path.
Access: Vehicle access is possible all year round via a hard track and a shared gate marked A on the map. Parking is possible within the woodland.
