Star Wood is an expansive semi-ancient broadleaf woodland, featuring wide rides and open fields to the south.
Majestic, well-spaced oaks dominate the landscape, giving the woodland a grand and spacious feel. Beneath them, a diverse mix of native species thrives, including hornbeam, birch, hazel, white poplar, holly, beech, ash, cherry, and the occasional yew. Wildflowers such as yellow archangel, wood sorrel, wood anemone, and honeysuckle add seasonal color and variety.
A network of woodland paths and wide rides weaves through the site, making exploration easy and allowing for vehicle access if needed. In the southeast corner, a storage shed and picnic table provide a perfect spot to pause and enjoy the tranquility. Set approximately 800 meters along a bridleway, the woodland offers complete seclusion.
Nearby, the villages of Cranleigh and Ewhurst provide a range of amenities, while Guildford and The Surrey Hills National Landscape to the north, and the South Downs National Park to the east, offer fantastic walking trails and outdoor adventures.
The ward is Ewhurst & Ellens Green and the county council is Surrey.
Boundaries: The boundary is open to the N, W and partially fenced S. North follows a wide open grass ride, west follows the open ride and power line. South borders the bridleway on Dunpits Lane.
Access: Vehicle access is possible via a hard track and shared locked gate. The track is muddy in places and would require a 4x4 in wet weather. Parking is possible at numerous points within the woodland. Please note there is currently a fallen tree blocking the track.
