Tap Wood is a very manageable size and unusually, bordered by fields on three sides making it a very private space. It would be a perfect first purchase for someone looking to start their woodland journey.
There are some lovely oak throughout and also chestnut, beech, birch, hazel and cherry. The woodland is wonderfully light due to the open surroundings and hosts a good mix of wildlife.
Numerous clearings at the north end of the wood and low lying bracken and grasses underfoot making it a great space for camping and woodland activities. There is a bench in place for sitting and enjoying the surroundings and also a very impressive anthill, thankfully positioned near the footpath in the southwest corner, so would not impact any activities. Tap Wood is part of the much larger Brewers Wood, designated as an Ancient, Semi-natural Woodland. The wood is in a lovely peaceful location and some distance from the nearest road.
Tap Wood is set in the lovely Kent countryside and within easy reach of local villages. Tunbridge Wells to the west and the popular coastal town of Rye to the south are also just a short drive away making it a great place for weekend getaways.
Parish is Cranbrook and Sissinghurst and the County Council is Kent
Boundaries are staked along the southern side which follows the main track through the wood. To the north, east and west the woodland meets fields and is clearly defined.
Access for the owners by vehicle would be via the well laid stone track, marked in blue on the map, that runs the length of the woodland, although currently slightly overgrown as you approach the far end. Parking is possible in the wood itself.
Covenant There is a covenant on the wood designed to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of this and adjoining woodlands, click HERE to read and download.
