Coed Soar, part of Coed Maes y Neuadd, has some of the finest views of Snowdonia you will ever see. As the site of a former conifer plantation part of this woodland has had about 14 years of natural regeneration which nestles alongside an impressive secret valley overlooked by mature oak woodland.

There is a lot of natural regeneration in this section includes silver birch, rowan, oak, willow & holly. Because the woodland has been untouched for 14 years there are lots of young trees, bracken, gorse, ferns and other vegetation.

Coed Soar offers a great project to clear some of the undergrowth to improve access to all areas and create a blank canvas for planting trees to further diversify the woodland, and to open up the small stream that runs through the wood, which would become a pleasant feature for the new owners and local wildlife visiting the wood.

Boundaries: The north western boundary is the main access track. The south-eastern boundary is fenced from adjoining farmland.. The north-eastern boundary is dry stone walls.

Trees: The majority of tree species found here include oak, birch, willow, holly, spruce, hazel & rowan.

Access: From the roadside gate, you can walk up the main access track taking in a view that stretches from Harlech castle, the Llyn Peninsula, Portmerion to the Snowdon mountain range. A short walk along the track there is a parking space for when visiting the woodland. From the parking area at the edge of the wood, a short path takes you up to the ridge of the woodland before the land then slopes down into a secluded valley.

Sporting rights: Included

Mineral rights: Reserved to a previous owner in a conveyance of 1956, but never exercised.

Public footpaths: The track from the entrance gate that runs past the wood is a public footpath, but there is no public access to any part of the wood.  The contours of the land mean that the majority of the wood is completely secluded.

Covenant: in common with the neighbouring woodlands, there is a covenant designed to ensure that all can have quiet and peaceful enjoyment of their woodland.

Local area: Situated two miles from Talsarnau in the small hamlet of Eisingrug, just over three miles from historical Harlech, its famous castle is visible from the woodland. The world-famous Portmerion can also be seen from the woodland and is easy to reach in 15 minutes.

Photographs: were taken in 2019 and December 2024.

VIEWING: You are welcome to visit this wood by yourself.  Please ensure that you have a copy of these sales details with you: we recommend either printing the details or downloading them to your phone/tablet/laptop before you go. Please take care when viewing as the great outdoors can contain unexpected hazards and woodlands are no exception.  Make sure you take a copy of the sales particulars with you, as there may be no mobile signal at the woodland.

Directions

From the A487 Dolgellau to Porthmadog road, turn onto the A496 signposted Maentwrog and Harlech. Follow the A496 for just under 6 miles miles, and after Talsarnau, the road becomes the B4573 (do not take the right turn to stay on the A496).

After a third of a mile, just before a bridge, turn left into a small lane and follow that for half a mile up the hill, through the village of Eisingrug and its village pond, and take the next right turn between a telegraph pole and a stone barn, marked as a no-through road.

Follow that road up the hill for half a mile until you reach a public footpath sign, and, set back from the road, a wooden gate with our Woodlands for Sale sign next to it. Please park here without blocking the gate. Once past the gate the woodland can be found on the right hand side of the track.
